I know what you're talking about...when I went to Tate Modern a couple years ago there was this room that was only lights! that's it! LIGHTS. on the wall! THAT was art! I remember writing in my art journal about my disgust of the lack of creativity (I studied art history over there in London..) and my professer just *did not* get it...she wrote in my journal (I have it right here on my bookshelf still!) "that is very interesting why you have these feelings, why do you?".... okay, well, there's something anybody can buy at a hardware store, they hung it up on the wall, and they called in ART! I mean, I might as well put this empty pepsi can in front of me on the wall and call it art *L*
anyway. *L*
Yeah, I worked in a boutique/art gallery type place this past year and you cannot believe some of the crap they had in there selling for hundreds of $$. Luckily, I was one of the more "popular" artists, so yay for me! *L* Well, maybe that's because I didn't paint a canvas all green and brown and that's it and put a hefty price tag on it!
